The Montana Ag Experiment Station yearling ewe consignments are a Targhee/Rambouillet cross from sires sourced at the Montana Ram Sale for generations. These will be low input, moderate framed older style commercial, finewool ewes bred for the drier, rocky conditions at MAES Red Bluff. Our mature ewes will average around 130 pounds at turnout to summer range, shear a 20.8 micron clip and drop around 140% lamb crop. They are shed lambed and herded with guard dogs in the rough Bear Trap area north of Ennis. Ewes are wintered on minimal inputs and expected to forage.
