2018 GRADE Buckskin Gelding

8-Year-Old Buckskin Gelding | Flashy Chrome • All-Around Ranch & Trail Partner. Buckwheat is an 8-year-old buckskin gelding with eye-catching chrome, a confident personality, and a strong work ethic. Built to last and ready to ride, this flashy gelding brings both style and substance to the table — he’s as fun to be around as he is to ride. This gelding has been there, done that. Buckwheat is a seasoned trail mount who’s tackled everything from busy downtown traffic to high country terrain. He’s navigated strollers, dogs, bikes, bridges, tunnels, and even trains — always steady and reliable, no matter the environment. Whether riding solo or in a group, he’s forward, surefooted, and unfazed. In the arena, Buckwheat is balanced and broke. He knows his leads, carries a smooth jog, has a voice-activated stop, and rolls back easily along the rail. He’s soft to cues, moves willingly off leg pressure, and has been lightly started on collection and frame work. With his handle and willingness, he’d be a great candidate for continued versatility or ranch riding refinement. He’s also had real ranch experience — Buckwheat has tracked cattle, been roped off, drug calves to the fire, sorted at jackpots, and checked fences. He loves having a job and brings a go-all-day attitude to every task. He’s bold and responsive, never needing a warm-up or lunge before hopping on — saddle up and go. Buckwheat has also been exposed to desensitization work: he carries a flag, crosses tarps and bridges, drags obstacles, and even goes swimming. His curious, eager mindset makes him fun to ride in new places — he embraces challenges with interest, not fear. On the ground, he’s a total character. Easy to catch, bathe, load, and haul — Buckwheat thrives on interaction and attention. He loves people, gets along well in the pasture, and brings a big, goofy, affectionate energy to every day. If you’re looking for a reliable, flashy gelding with ranch experience, arena ability, and serious trail miles, Buckwheat is the whole package. Sound, seasoned, and full of personality — this gelding is ready for his next partner. Will hold for one week. We have a list of haulers we can recommend and we haul privately as well.
